by Tom Cunha
Arrow Releasing has snapped up of U.S. theatrical, television and video rights
to "Under the Skin", president Dennis Friedland announced on Friday. Produced
by Strange Dog Productions for the British Film Institute and Channel
Television, the film chronicles the strained relationship between two sisters
who vie for their mother's affection and how their lives change as a result of
their mother's death. "Skin" marks the feature debut of British director Carine
Adler and stars Samantha Morton and Claire Rushbrook as the sisters.
"Skin" is screening in the World Cinema Section at Sundance and previously
screened at last year's Toronto Film Festival where it won the International
Critics Award. The deal was arranged by Arrow executive VP Wayne J. Keeley and
BFI sales exec Andrea Klein.
