Peace Arch Entertainment has acquired international sales rights to Peter Rodger's doc "Oh My God," and is introducing the film to foreign buyers for the first time at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.
The film examines worldwide perceptions of God and features participation from celebrities such as Hugh Jackman, Ringo Starr, David Copperfield, Seal, Sir Bob Geldof, Baz Luhrmann, Her Royal Highness Princess Michael of Kent and Jack Thompson, among others. Peace Arch noted that for the better part of three years, Rodger "has kept the project and footage closely under wraps." Rodger also wrote and produced the film.
"'Oh My God' is an exploration of a simple question on a grand scale," Rodger said in a statement. "Grabbing a camera and traveling the world to find out what God really means to people led me to one of the great experiences of my life. When you delve into subject matter that is universal you need to take a universal approach to your exploration, and this led us to amazing groups of people and locations that we hope will captivate audiences as much as they did us."
"Watching this film gave me chills," said Julie Sultan, President of International Motion Picture Sales at Peace Arch, in a statement. "The visual experience alone this film offers is - nothing short of breathtaking. The characters we meet, and, the cultures we visit thru Peter's interviews are so vivid and meaningful. This film is a stunning view of our world, its people and their opinions on this timeless question - What is God ... to you? 'Oh My God' is a film that stays with you for days; it's a thought-provoking, discussion creating, emotional experience. I'm thrilled to bring it to Cannes."
