MJ Peckos and Bob Myerson, formerly of First Look, have joined forces to launch Dada Films, a new domestic theatrical distributor that will also handle worldwide marketing for the films that it acquires. First up for the L.A. based duo is Rick McKay's "Broadway: The Golden Age," hitting theaters in April, which features interviews and anecdotes about Broadway from Kim Hunter, Gwen Verdon, Kaye Ballard, Mimi Hines, Bea Arthur, Carol Burnett, Carol Channing, Hume Cronyn, Charles Durning, Rosemary Harris, Derek Jacobi, Lainie Kazan, Fay Wray, Elaine Stritch, Stephen Sondheim, Chita Riviera, and Tony Roberts.

Myerson told indieWIRE yesterday that Dada plans to take on five to seven films next year and likely 10 films the following year. The company is currently staffing and while they have long-range plans to expand to New York, the current goal is to set up the L.A. office.

Dada intends to unveil other films from its initial slate soon. The company will pursue worldwide rights for movies where possible, and will work to market titles oversees and also sell off key ancillaries.

"We can strategically position a film for sale at a film festival, oversee domestic and international sales, or -- if appropriate -- can release the film itself domestically and handle all ancillary sales," commented Peckos in a prepared statement.

Peckos served as President of First Look Pictures and handled international duties for Overseas Filmgroup, First Look Media's international sales arm. Myerson has a background in political strategy and publicity, having worked at mPRm and later at First Look.
