Pflug Leaves Artisan For A Top Spot at Miramax
by Eugene Hernandez
Media relations and PR executive Paul Pflug has exited his executive VP post at Artisan to take a top job in media relations and corporate communications at Miramax. Pflug, as executive VP of media relations and corporate communications, will report to Miramax's co-chairmen Bob & Harvey Weinstein and COO Rick Sands. He will be based on the West Coast.
Miramax's Matthew Hiltzik has been promoted to senior VP of corporate communications and government relations. He is based in New York. Pflug will work closely with Hiltzik and Miramax EVP of worldwide publicity Amanda Lundberg.
Pflug joins Miramax today (Thursday) after four years at Artisan, where he rose from senior VP of national publicity and corporate communications. Prior to his tenure at Artisan he served as a partner at Los Angeles PR firm Bragman Nyman Cafarelli. He will, according to yesterday's announcement, manage "Miramax's corporate profile and communications strategies within the entertainment, consumer and business communities on a global level as well as serving as the publicity team's senior executive on the West Coast." He will oversee West Coast publicity efforts and consult on home entertainment and TV initiatives. Oversight of film related publicity and awards campaigns rests with New York-based Lundberg.
Hiltzik has been at Miramax since December of 1999 and will continue to handle many Miramax corporate communications duties as well as work on government relations, philanthropic efforts, community relations and other projects, including PR for Miramax Books. His background includes work for the New York State Democratic Committee. He is an attorney who remains an active member of the New York State Bar.
