Polanski and Scorsese Set For Berlinale

Martin Scorsese's "Shutter Island" and, in a premiere that is sure to spark considerable interest due to the filmmaker's recent legal troubles, Roman Polanski's "The Ghost Writer," are among the first seven titles for the Competition of the 60th Berlin International Film Festival. A total of 26 films are set for the Competition section of the 60th Berlinale. Further Competition title confirmations will be announced in January 2010.

Martin Scorsese's "Shutter Island" and, in a premiere that is sure to spark considerable interest due to the filmmaker's recent legal troubles, Roman Polanski's "The Ghost Writer," are among the first seven titles for the Competition of the 60th Berlin International Film Festival. A total of 26 films are set for the Competition section of the 60th Berlinale. Further Competition title confirmations will be announced in January 2010.

“The Competition of the 60th anniversary Berlinale will be marked by a mix of styles and genres, by exciting newcomers and renowned directors,” commented festival Director Dieter Kosslick in a statement.

The films selected so far are from Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, France, Germany, India, Iran, Turkey, the UK and the USA.
