>> Norrington Wrapping
Recently wrapped in London is "The Last Minute," from writer/director Stephen
Norrington ("Blade"), co-written by John Caine. The black comedy stars Max
Beesley as a London guy on his way up in the underworld, who takes a
precipitous fall. Norrington also produces the project along with partner
Matthew Justice. Executive Producers are Peter Frankfurt and Hooman Majd
from Palm Pictures.
>> Lonergan Behind the Camera
"Analyze This" writer Kenneth Lonergan is going into production in New York
on his directing debut, "You Can Count On Me," starring Matthew Broderick
("Election"), Laura Linney ("Tales of the City") and John Tenney ("Entropy").
Executive produced by Martin Scorcese and Barbara De Fina, Jeff Sharp and
John Hart, Jr. are producing alongside the Shooting Gallery. The comedy
tells the story of a single mother trying to raise her son while putting up
with redneck family, an oppressive job, and the affections of two men.
>> Going "Beyond City Limits"
Currently shooting in Los Angeles is the indie film "Beyond City Limits,"
directed by Gigi Gaston ("The Cream Will Rise"), written by John McMahon
("Fait Accompli"), and produced by Vincent Newman, Joseph Nittolo, Tucker
Tooley, John Saviano and Matt Terzian, with Justin Urbas ("The Last
Marshall") as executive producer. The story involves three woman who vow to
get their revenge and their loot when their boyfriends cheat them out of
their part of a casino heist. The cast includes Jennifer Esposito ("Summer of
Sam"), Nastassja Kinski ("Your Friends and Neighbors"), Alexis Denisof
("First Knight"), Alyson Hannigan ("American Pie"), Todd Field ("Broken
Vessels"), Steve Harris ("The Mod Squad"), Brian McCardie ("200 Cigarettes")
and Sophie B. Hawkins.
>> "Camera Obscura" Set to Go
Writer-director Hamlet Sarkissian, a recent AFI grad, is beginning principal
photography on his debut film in Los Angeles, "Camera Obscura," a
psychological drama told through the eyes of an LAPD crime scene
photographer. Tassos Kazinos, Haris Zambarloukos and Sarkissian produce the
film, which stars Adam Trese ("Polish Wedding") and Spanish film star Ariadna
Gil ("Belle Epoque").
