Elevator Pitch:

From flight attendants to bicycle rickshaw drivers, we will capture 24 continuous hours in the lives of 10 transportation workers around the world in a new series “Lives in Transit” supported by NEA and people like you via Kickstarter.

By extending the long take to a cinematic extreme and focusing it on the transportation industry, we will tell the story of the modern world in a new way. The day-in-the-life approach makes proximate individuals most embedded in the mechanisms of globalization and makes visible the intimate details of their daily experiences.

Production Team:

The production of Lives in Transit will bring together nearly 100 accomplished filmmakers and media artists to undertake a globally-collaborative work of art that raises questions about the relationship of human connection and disconnection, similarity and difference, distance and proximity.

About the Production:

"Global Lives began with an original mandate to produce ten 24-hour shoots following the lives of a diverse group of people. We developed a methodology for collaborative global video making and built a network of over 1,000 filmmakers and translators.

"'Lives in Transit' represents the next phase in the development of a scalable video library of the human condition. The series will stay true to the tenet of unfiltered access, but it will be the first time a theme will juxtapose individuals with parallel circumstances, namely occupation, in order to highlight cross-cultural differences and similarities." - David Evan Harris
