Project of the Day: A Memory-Keeping Invention!

Here's your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you'll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

"Invention"

Tweetable Logline:

A forgetful boy, desperate to remember his late mother's voice, builds an invention that he can feed his memories to, to help her live on.

Elevator Pitch:

After his father abandons him for work one Saturday, a forgetful boy creates an invention to help him remember his dead mother's voice by feeding it his memories of her. As the invention brings his mother to life, it's the best day the boy could ever imagine. But when all he has left are the bad ones, tragedy strikes and the boy is left to come to terms with the loss of his mother. Ultimately, the boy forms a deeper connection with his father as the two of them recreate their stories and memories of the woman they lost.

Production Team:

Writer/Director: Daniel W. Long
Producer: Michaela O'Donnell Long, Katie Reidy
Art Director: Evan Woolery

About the Production:

"The film is essentially about grief, loss, and connection. We've been blown away at how people react to the project. People weave their own stories of loss with that of the boy. Those who have read the script identify with the longings and loss the characters experience. We hope that in making this film, we hope that it gives people the space to creatively approach issues of grief and loss. To do this, we'll connect with Grief Organizations, School Counselors, and Child Psychologists to create material to accompany the film once it is complete." -- Michaela Long

Current Status:

Pre-production.
