"Speechless"

Tweetable Logline:

Dan's two best friends ask him to give a speech at their wedding, only he hates the groom and he's still in love with the bride.

Elevator Pitch:

Most people have terrible public speaking skills. At weddings, ordinary schmoes are called upon to give funny, moving speeches. In Speechless, Dan has to give a speech for two of his best friends. To make things worse, he's still in love with one of them and hates the other.

Dan must struggle to come up with something meaningful, while also coming into strict competition with the bride's pompous, cutthroat uncle.

Production Team:

Writer/Director: Paul Briganti
Producers: Sam Marine, Dan Schoenbrun
Cinematographer: Noah Yuan-Vogel

About the Production:

"SPEECHLESS dissects love’s collateral damage: what friendship eggs get broken in the omelette of romance and how that can take years to heal. I took this theme that has followed me through life and put it against a wedding speech. A few years ago my sister asked me to give hers, and it was one of the most anxious experiences of my life. Each frame of the short is influenced by the romantic cynicism of Woody Allen, Pixar’s inner child, UCB's irreverence, and is finally garnished with personal experiences my inner critic has deemed interesting." -- Paul Briganti

Current Status:

Post-production.
