Project of the Day: Around the World in Fireworks

Here's your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you'll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

"Passfire"

Tweetable Logline:

Passfire is a documentary about the world's most amazing fireworks, the passionate people who make them and the cultures behind them.

Elevator Pitch:

Passfire is a documentary about the world's most amazing fireworks, the passionate people who make them and the cultures behind them. "Passfire” is a pyrotechnics term that means passing a flame from one part of a firework to another, but it’s also a metaphor for passing the knowledge and love of fireworks from one generation to another. We want to tell the global story of the celebrated relationship humans have with fire. From Thai rice farmers who build giant pyrotechnic girandolas (helicopters) to rocket wars between churches in Greece, we will explore why people are so fascinated with fireworks.

Production Team:

Director/Producer: Jesse Veverka
Cinematographer/Producer: Jeremy Veverka
Executive Producers: Harry Gilliam, John Werner
Associate Producers: Ken Carpenter, Andrew Cheng, M.D., Sean Tiedeman, Hyunjoo Chung, Ph.D.

About the Production:

"As kids, we were captivated by fire. Not because of a crazy bug of destruction, but because of its beauty and strength. When we discovered firecrackers, the world was never quite the same. We never outgrew our childhood fascination with fireworks, and we're not alone — millions of other adults worldwide have found a way to make not only a living, but an entire lifestyle out of fireworks. Passfire is about these people. Everyone loves fireworks, and yet very few of us know about the people who make them and their passionate devotion to this inspiring, yet risky craft." -- Jeremy Veverka

Current Status:

In production.

Having the story line of fire works is something you don't hear enough about, knowing how difficult to actually make the product for people's amusement every day of the year is very interesting.
China is very passionate about fire works and enjoy making the people smile.
The shots in this film are great.
