Project of the Day: 'Bread and Butter' Needs Your Bread!

Here's your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you'll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

"Bread and Butter"

Tweetable Logline:

Bread and Butter is a romantic comedy starring characters who aren't normally in romantic comedies.

Elevator Pitch:

Bread and Butter is a story about Amelia (30), an endearing misfit and virgin, who starts to be pursued by two men at the same time. One man is trying desperately to keep control of his life while the other embraces Crazy.

In the midst of all the romantic confusion, Amelia has to deal with her eccentric boss, a life coach named Dr. Wellburn, and her overbearing parents.

Bread and Butter aims to be a character study of one neurotic, sexually inexperienced girl, Amelia (30) being thrown into the gauntlet of romantic pursuit.

Production Team:

Writer/Director: Liz Manashil
Producers: Tiffany Gray, David Lasky ("Of Corset's Mine"), Chrissie Messuri, Sean Wright
Cinematographer: Katie Walker
Cast Attachments: Oscar Nominee Patty McCormack, Allyn Rachel

About the Production:

"Most romantic comedies set up an expectation that romance is going to be easily choreographed and all women are pursued by two perfect men. Our film focuses on romance for the disenfranchised.  Bread and Butter is a darker romantic comedy that focuses on the the awkwardness of the courtship process, and the exploration of whether a partner is right or not.  Bread and Butter is a micro-budget feature with women in all major crew positions (Writer/Director, Producer, Cinematographer, Editor)." -- Liz Manashil

Current Status:

Pre-production.
