Eres tu, Papa? (Is That You, Dad?)
Real fear in Cuba: Cuba's first psychological horror film, showing life in Cuba away from cliches of salsa, cigars and rum
Set in modern day Cuba, fifteen-year-old Liliana moves with her parents to the capital Havana. Her parents are dreaming of a better life, but these dreams are shattered when Liliana's father suddenly dies in a tragic incident. Missing her father, Liliana evokes his spirit using a black magic ritual but the spirit is evil and seeks to destroy what is left of the family. Liliana’s mother dismisses the visions as the result of her trauma. Will Liliana be able to convince her mother that the evil spirit is real or will she have to overcome this nightmare alone?
Director: Rudy Riveron Sanchez
Producers: Rudy Riveron Sanchez, Rebecca Randell, Sandy Perez (Una Noche)
Cinematographer: Bilko Cuervo
About the Production:
"I'm originally from Cuba and horror is a genre that hasn't really been explored in Cuba. Using the horror genre is an opportunity to offer to the audience inside and outside of Cuba an alternative view of Cuban life. This story doesn't portray the cliches of Cuba, of salsa, cigars and rum. In doing this, I hope that the film will appeal not only to horror fans but also to people who want to know more about Cuba. I have a professional crew in Cuba, who are really experienced, a luxury for a micro-budget film." -Rudy Riveron Sanchez
Currently fundraising and pre-production, then will have a phase of pre-production in Cuba and then shooting January 2013
