A documentary focusing on the struggles a Chilean community is facing after a tsunami destroyed their city nearly two years ago.
Hey! We are currently making a movie about the survivors of the Chilean earthquake and tsunami of 2010. Dichato is a tourist beach town that was completely washed away with four big waves. The people have been living in 12x12 foot houses for nearly two years now, many still without bathrooms or running water to their homes! We are hoping to illustrate this story from many angles as we document the trials facing this community. We have already begun pre-production, but are looking for help to raise the rest of the funds needed. Help us tell the Dichatino’s story!
Director/Cinematographer/Producer: Jordan Reid
Producer: Melissa Reid
Assistant Director: César Soto
About the Production:
"My wife and I left our hometown of Portland, OR nearly a year and a half ago to support the people affected by the Chilean earthquake and resulting tsunami of 2010. In this time, we have witnessed firsthand the struggles the people of Dichato, Chile have been facing, and how no one has stepped up to document and affirm these hardships. Though never overlooking the perspectives of government officials, land owners, and aid organizations, this documentary’s primary goal is to tell the story of the people of Dichato." -- Jordan Reid
