Project of the Day: Documentary 'Shamed' Takes on Porn Addiction

"Shamed"
Here's your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you'll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

"Shamed"

Tweetable Logline:

Helping pornography addicts to SPEAK up, LISTEN to those who will help, and HEAL their broken hearts and lives.

Elevator Pitch:

Shamed, a documentary feature, will look at how to remove the debilitating personal and group shame that exists around pornography and sex addictions in conservative Christian communities. Those of us who would preach a balanced life of fidelity and healthy sexual relations are being drowned out by the pervasive messaging of an over-sexualized world. Our best protection is open, honest, healthy communication on pornography and sexual addiction, empowering the people we love to "SPEAK, LISTEN, and HEAL."

Production Team:

Producer/Director: Jessica Mockett
Producer: Jordan Harker
Director of Photography: Travis Cline
Art Director: Jenni Nelson

About the Production:

"About 18 months ago, I felt drawn to the subject matter of pornography. I wondered why so many people around me struggled with pornography addiction. So I jumped in feet first – studied research and opinion articles, read several books, watched YouTube videos of retired porn actors’ experiences, watched any documentary out there on the subject I could get a hold of, attended S-anon group, and started interviewing addicts. After all these months, the face of the problem and solutions are clear to me and I am ready to share with the world what she has learned." -- Jessica Mockett

Current Status:

In production.

I'd like to see your film. As a wife of a husband who has betrayed all loyalty, I am surrounded by shame. And currently can't seem to shake free from it. I'm shamed by his actions, I feel shamed by other women, men the world, I hurtle shame in his direction...how why? what kind of sicko are you? Shame feels like a key player in our existence trying to navigate life after porn and prostitutes.
