Project of the Day: Film Cleverly Teases Plot Hook in Crowdfunding Campaign Video

Here's your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you'll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

"Come and Get Your Love"

Tweetable Logline:

Two young, broke Manhattanites must confront the reality of their dreams as they hike from Harlem to the Village one fateful summer night.

Elevator Pitch:

With only a few dollars to their name, best friends Stan and Beasley embark on a journey by foot across the length of Manhattan on a night filled with the promise of personal liberation, romance and enlightenment. Trekking through the city's colorful maze of people and buildings, they make their way downtown where they meet two young women who will challenge their plans for the future, their notion of love, and even their friendship, making this a trip they won't soon forget.

Production Team:

Raul Barcelona – Director/Producer/Editor
Josh Robbins – Writer/Producer
Heidi Eklund – Casting director/Producer
Jordan Stone – Director of Photography
Diane Becker – Executive Producer
Pat Gallio – Executive Producer

About the Production:

"What better way to illustrate the struggle of young people to find personal liberation in a world dominated by money, greed and power than through a long, nightly walk through the streets of Manhattan? When you ditch the subway and resort to the power of your own two feet, New York City comes alive in all its glory. The city is beautiful, ugly, quiet, loud, kind, merciless, rich and poor—some times all in the same block. Trapped by debt, brokenhearted, hopeless—it doesn’t matter: as you pound the pavement and navigate the sidewalks no dream seems out of reach." -- Raul Barcelona

  • Melina B | July 16, 2013 8:11 PMReply

New York City is so beautiful at night, and as the backdrop for the story, it will be a striking character in this story. I think that we all remember magical nights, wandering the streets of our youth, and dreaming about what our lives might be while working out who we might become. The adventures of the young form the seeds of the future, which is pretty compelling. The basis is there and though I have not read the script, the previews and teases are interesting with a sense of humor. I see here some elements of stories that I have loved in the past. I look forward to this movie and will definitely see it. Good luck to the crew!
