Never Mind the Bollocks still

Here's your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you'll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

"Never Mind the Bollocks"

Tweetable Logline:

A dark comedy short film, starring Gary Lewis (Gangs of NY) and Scott Wolf (Party of Five, Go!), written and directed by Becky Blasband

Elevator Pitch:

"Never Mind the Bollocks" is a dark comedy, dramatic, live-action short film in the vein of "In Bruges" and "Sexy Beast." It is about heartache, loss and the absurd way in which the external world reflects our inner turmoil. It also touches on the theme of isolation and alienation immigrants feel living in the U.S. when faced with life challenge. It is a character driven piece for high caliber actors with a production value geared toward elevated intl. festivals and distribution. Writer/director Becky Blasband and her cast will deliver a funny, heartbreaking punch one is sure to remember.

Production Team:

BECKY BLASBAND writer/director, was trained by David Mamet, William H. Macy and The Atlantic Theater Company. She hails from NYU film school and has spent the past number of years working in film as a screenwriter and on set. She is best known as "Becky" from MTV's groundbreaking series The Real World, One, NYC. She recently collaborated on the script for Academy Award nominated filmmaker Antonin Svoboda on his film "The Strange Case of Wilhelm Reich" - U.S. release, 2013. "Bollocks" is Becky's directorial debut.

GARY LEWIS: is a lauded, Scottish actor in UK theater, film and television. He is best known for his roles in "Gangs of New York,"( playing Bill the Butcher's sidekick "McGloin,") as well as his touching performance as the father in Billy Elliot. "Bollocks" will be Gary's first U.S. gig.

SCOTT WOLF: is best known for his breakout role in ABC's "Party of Five," as well as "V", "NCIS," and the indiefilm hit "Go!". He currently stars in TNT's "Perception." In "Bollocks" he will be playing against type.

JUSTIN WILLIAMS (producer) has worked in both development and physical production on a wide range of projects including Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" and the HBO/ Aaron Sorkin show "The Newsroom." He recently produced "Growing Up and Other Lies" starring Adam Brody, Josh Lawson, Wyatt Cenac and Amber Tamblyn.

JUSTIN CHIN (cinematographer) is a San Francisco, Bay Area DP known for his unique artistic style, with vast experience in shooting short films. His recent credits include "Nowhere Girl" "Space Out" and "Daisy Cutter."

About the Production:

"'Never Mind the Bollocks' is about love, karma and the web of life connecting, affecting and romancing strangers in synchronous ways. After one suffers the shock of loss, life becomes sharply clear yet dreamlike. It finishes the story for us. Also, I'm a child of an immigrant (my mother), and while the U.S. is an interesting melting pot, I've noticed that in times of turmoil it can seem like a purgatorial way station for those who weren't born here. Bollocks is also a nostalgic look at punk rock, which is my generation's music." - Becky Blasband

Current Status:
