Project of the Day: Jeffery Self Writes a Mumblegore Movie with the Creator of the 'Chloe' Videos
Here's your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you'll have the chance to vote for your favorite.
In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.
"You're Killing Me"
When people tell you are believe them. Maya Angelou said that. Or was it Oprah? Either way. When somebody tells you they're a killer. Listen
You're Killing Me is a horror/indie comedy film we're describing as mumblegore. This group of Los Angelenos are used to getting together, getting drunk, playing Celebrity, and most importantly trying to get the most attention in the room. Nobody ever listens to each other because everybody is always on. However, when George begins dating Joe he's far too much of a self absorded ironic hipster to actually hear Joe when he's upfront about his burgeoning killing spree. Also, Joe happens to be extremely handsome, so who cares if he has a couple flaws. I mean, until he's slitting your throat.
Director: Jim Hansen (most notably the creator of the viral "Chloe Sevigny" videos) Writers: Jeffery Self (Logo's "Jeffery and Cole Casserole") and Jim Hansen
Cast includes: Drew Droege (Chloe in the "Chloe" videos), Bryan Safi ("Throwing Shade" and "That's Gay"), Edi Patterson ("Super Big Night"), Jack Plotnick ("Rubber", "Girls Will Be Girls", etc), Matthew Wilkas ("Gayby), Matthew McKelligon ("Eastsiders").
About the Production:
"What excites me about this uniquely terrifying and laugh out loud movie is that, like BAGHEAD and FUNNY GAMES, it gets you so comfortable with its chatty, mumblecore dialogue and realistic characters, but then pulls the rug out from under you. Just as it would happen in reality, if the strange person your friend was blindly falling for started chopping up all your friends" -- Jeffery Self
