Project of the Day: Music, Paranoia, and the Human Psyche in Short Film 'Red Noise'

Here's your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you'll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

"Red Noise"

Tweetable Logline:

RED NOISE is a short film exploring music, paranoia and the human psyche. Questions how subtleties in our environment influence our actions.

Elevator Pitch:

Benny, a lowly river dweller, stumbles upon a gruesome scene on his way back to his nest of thieves. In a fit of fear and confusion he leaves clutching a radio, growing ever more fearful as the wayward artifact seems to interact. Is it all in his head or is there a greater evil lurking within the static?

This suspenseful short story takes into consideration the many ways in which subtleties in our environment may influence our interactions and views on a situation. It will include original music written in direct relation to the script.

Production Team:

Writer/Director/Producer/Editor: Maria Celeste Garrahan
Sound: Connor Martin
Cinematographer: Owen Levelle
Cast: Tim Mara, Dave Register, Terence Sheridan, Mairea Workman

About the Production:

"My story stems from the undertones of our interactions and the subtle power music and ads can hold over us when the scene is set and the mind is susceptible. The weak are exploited by the wicked… paranoia ensues.

"These undertones should be especially examined Now, that our daily lives are saturated with inescapable media and popular culture. The purpose of our film is to explore how these subtleties in our environment influence behavior, in this case creating a hostile atmosphere. It envelopes our sense of reality, driving the timorous to absurd conclusions with dire consequences." -- Maria Celeste Garrahan

Current Status:
