Tweetable Logline:
"Brushstrokes in Hollywood" celebrates the life and work of the legendary Hollywood concept artist, Tyrus Wong.
Elevator Pitch:

"Tyrus Wong: Brushstrokes in Hollywood" is a documentary feature that examines the life and work of pioneering Chinese-American artist Tyrus Wong. The film tells the story of how a young boy from Southern China overcame a life of poverty and racial discrimination to become a celebrated illustrator, painter, lithographer, kite maker, Hollywood sketch artist, and Disney Legend. "Brushstrokes in Hollywood" unveils the unique blend of influences that shaped Tyrus Wong and his art – from his passion for the bold art of the Sung dynasty to his work as a depression-era muralist, California watercolor painter and Hollywood set illustrator.

Production Team:

Director: Pamela Tom
Producers: Pamela Tom, Gwen Wynne, Tamara Khalaf
Co-Producer: Linda Barry
Cinematographer: Shana Hagan
Editors: Walt Louie, Tim Craig

About the Production:
"I have been working on this film for over 12 years, researching his life extensively and getting to know Tyrus both as a man and as as an artist. He has overcome amazing obstacles in his lifetime. My aim is to provide the first in-depth portrait of Tyrus Wong's life and art. His story is inspiring, uplifting and quintessentially American. Although at 102 he remains full of life, spirit, humor and humility, he won't be with us forever. Now is the time to bring his story to a larger audience." -- Pamela Tom
