Project of the Day: In the Deep South, "There is New World Somewhere"

Here's your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you'll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

"There is a New World Somewhere"

Tweetable Logline:

A troubled woman is seduced by a stranger who takes her on a road trip through America's deep south.

Elevator Pitch:
"There is a New World Somewhere" is about Sylvia, a troubled woman, who comes back to her Texas hometown for a friend's wedding. On the night before, she meets Esteban, a mysterious drifter. He's about to go on a roadtrip through the Deep South and dares her to come along. At dawn, the strangers speed off into the unknown. Now that's just the beginning. The film unravels into an intimate portrayal of two souls who have lost direction in life, both trying to fight self-doubt and the doubt of others. Like "Y Tu Mama Tambien" or "Paris, TX?" Then you'll fall in love with "There is a New World Somewhere."

Production Team:
Writer/Director: Li Lu
Producers: Elizabeth Ai, Jonathan Yaniv
Cinematographer: Igor Kropotov
Production Designer: Maxwell Orgell
Editor: Thomas Krueger
Composers: Benoît Pioulard, Zahid Dewji

About the Production:
"There is a New World Somewhere" is a coming-of-age story of a woman who has lost her way. I feel as close to our heroine as I’ll ever be. Abundant in passion but lacking in ways to manifest it, this story put sharp focus on my own fears. In this age where immediacy pervades our lives, it's hard to find the time to let inspiration in. To promote our campaign, we're collaborating with adventure bloggers by taking roadtrips together and publishing them to encourage others to be more adventurous. We want to connect with our generation through our film and inspire people along the way.

Current Status: We are currently fundraising on Seed&Spark, a crowdfunding platform built exclusively for independent films and filmmakers. We have 17 days left to reach 30K!

This movie is going to hit home for a lot of people, especially artists. The grand struggle to express yourself in a meaningful and coherent way that reaches out to others and tells them, "I'm here, this is me." Everyone want's to be heard or seen and I can't wait to see this one!!

I believe many of us can find ourselves in Sylvia--the loss, the struggle, the lust, and the dream etc. The journey of self discovery and the fight to fend off temptations... I look forward to watching Li's Story in one of the theaters in Park City.

Really looking forward to this project going into production. Can't wait to get my copy of the DVD. I wish Hollywood would finance more of these kinds of films!

I can only hope to see this film go into production. The story is one that almost everyone, young and old can relate to. The trailer looks extremely inviting. The actors show chemistry and passion which makes them believable. I can't wait to see the full production. Good Luck!
