"Seed Money"

Tweetable Logline:

Pornographer Chuck Holmes used his fortune to found the gay rights movement, only to find that he wasn't always welcome.

Elevator Pitch:

Chuck Holmes may be the gay community's most unlikely -- and unknown hero. As the founder of Falcon Studios, he modernized the nascent gay porn industry and changed the way gay men thought of themselves. Later he used that fortune to help found the largest gay rights organizations in the country, including the Human Rights Campaign. But while his money and famous friends were always welcome, his association often wasn't.

We trace Chuck's story from the liberationist 70s through the go-go 80s and to the 90s, when Chuck made a bid to transcend his past.

Production Team:

Director-Producer: Michael Stabile ("Smut Capital of America")
DP/Editor: Ben Leon ("Smut Capital of America")
Producer: Jack Shamama ("I Want Your Love")

About the Production:

"Today, the gay community is focused on relatively suburban concerns: marriage, the military, adoption. We wanted to talk about how we got there, and what we've left behind in the process.

"Chuck's story is the story of the gay community: from the radical 70s to today's Beltway politics. While the money Chuck made in the former helped found the latter, he still never got the respect he wanted. Beyond the Bentleys, the yachts, the sex and the drugs, I think his story is about what we lose (and gain) in a bid to make ourselves 'acceptable.'" -- Michael Stabile

Current Status:

In production.

Sorry, but looks a bit boring - needs more ironing out and story telling IMO about the man himself and his life.

This is a story that needs to be told. I support the idea! Porn in the mainstream - eh, well, we'll take your cash for sure!
