'Pulp Fiction,' 'Being John Malkovich' Head to Russia and China in New VOD Deals

American indie films continue to forge new paths to international TV audiences. Miramax has cut a subscription VOD deal with Russian online service Stream, while NBCUniversal has partnered with Chinese VOD company Youku to bring its library content to Asia.

The result is films such as “Kill Bill,” “Pulp Fiction,” “Being John Malkovich,” “The Big Lebowski” and “The English Patient” (along with a host of mainstream fare) will soon be available to Russian and Chinese audiences. The Stream agreement means that Russian viewers will be able to watch HD movies online or download them to other devices. The Youku offerings will be available through Youku Premium.
