"The Art of Being Straight," by from first-time writer/director Jesse Rosen has been acquired by Regent Releasing and Here Media. Regent/Here, which acquired the film from Great Graffiti Films for North American rights, will distribute the film in select cities day and date with here! Networks on June 5. Regent's Mark Reinhart negotiatd the deal with Laurence Ducceschi at Great Graffiti Films.
The film follows Jon (Jesse Rosen), a twenty-something who moves to L.A. after a break-up with his girlfriend. Crashing on his friend's (Jared Grey) couch, Jon regresses to the comforting college student lifestyle of partying, womanizing and sexist trash talk. Reconnecting with his old fling Maddy (Rachel Castillo) proves to be surprising when she introduces him to her girlfriend. Things get a little confusing when Jon's boss, Paul (Johnny Ray Rodriguez), takes a special interest in him. Meanwhile, Maddy's own confusion grows as she begins to fall for her neighbor, Aaron (Peter Scherer). The film features cameos from mumble-core filmmaker Joe Swanberg ("Alexander the Last"), and actors Greta Gerwig ("Baghead") and Kent Osborne ("Hannah Takes the Stairs").
