Richard Lorber will return to the position of Chair of Film Forum's Board of Directors, effective immediately. Lorber was previously Chair of Film Forum's Board of Directors from 2005-2008, and is currently the President and CEO of Lorber HT Digital, distributing specialty films and classics under its Lorber Films banner for narrative features and under Alive Mind for documentaries.
Film Forum also welcomes new board members Liz Berger (President, Alliance for Downtown New York), Susan Farkas (Chief, Radio and Television Service, United Nations), Abhishek Mehta (VP and Research Director, Brandywine Management Services), and Ted Rogers, a prominent philanthropist and previous Chairman of the Board of the New York City Ballet.
These new members join a number of prominent independent film industry figures already on Film Forum's board and board committees, including: actor/director John Turturro; Cinetic's John Sloss; producer Andy Fierberg; WNET Executive Producer for American Masters, Susan Lacy; co-COO of the William Morris Agency, Wayne S. Kabak; documentary director/producer David Grubin; and entertainment attorney M. Graham Coleman, who is the retiring board chair.
Founded in 1970, Film Forum is a 3-screen cinema dedicated to premiering foreign arthouse films, American independents and documentaries, with a dynamic revivals and repertory program showcasing new and restored prints of classics and rediscovered films. Recent premieres include "Wendy & Lucy," "Valentino: The Last Emperor," and "Katyn."
