Over two months after it premiered at Sundance to raves (read our extremely enthusiastic review here), IFC Films has announced that Richard Linklater's "Boyhood" will open in US theaters on July 11.
The film -- fully financed by IFC Films (though for a while it was unclear whether they would distribute it as well -- was written by Linklater and stars Ellar Coltrane, Ethan Hawke, Patricia Arquette and Lorelei Linklater. Filmed over short periods from 2002 to 2013, ir covering 12 years in the life of a family.
In addition to Sundance (where it screened out of competition), "Boyhood" won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the 2014 Berlin International Film Festival. It was produced by Linklater, Cathleen Sutherland, Jonathan Sehring and John Sloss.
