From Josh Lucas admitting that NBC's "The Firm" was DOA, to Julie Delpy lashing out at Ethan Hawke following some not so flattering things he said about his "Before Sunset" co-star to the press, to Allison Janney confessing she loses out on parts to men (!), Indiewire was privy to some juicy headline-worthy quotes during our countless interviews conducted this year. With 2013 just around the corner, we've compiled a list of the 20 zaniest and most profound things various filmmakers and actors told us in 2012.

They're all organized alphabetically by last name; click on name and film title(s) to access the full interview. And be sure to tell us which one's your favorite in the comment section below!

Jessica Chastain, "Zero Dark Thirty"
"Next year at some point, I need to sit in a room by myself and be like, 'Where do you want to go, Jessica?' because this year and a half has been... a lot."

Benedict Cumberbatch, "Sherlock"
"I've had asexuals come up to me and thank me for representing asexuals. I don't know how that came about. I mean, the man's too busy to have sex."

Lee Daniels, "The Paperboy"
"It’s important to tell your kids that they can do anything. I tell my kids that every day. That you can be president, that you can be an astronaut. Because my dad told me early on that I would be nothing. That you’re a faggot who will be nothing. So I revert back to that when I get negative criticism for the work that I do. It takes me right back to what my dad told me."

Julie Delpy, "2 Days in New York"
When asked about how the shoot was coming along for the follow-up to "Before Sunset," Delpy said: "I mean Ethan [Hawke] is crazy, but he's a great writer. I'm saying that because I just found out he said that in an interview, that I'm crazy. It got me really angry [laughs]. It's so unfair because he doesn't understand that being a woman director is already such a complicated thing. Everyone assumed that women are crazy, so if you say that... I know what he means by saying I'm crazy -- that I'm a goofball and make the craziest jokes. But I'm everything from crazy. I directed four films in five years and I had a baby in that time too. If I was crazy, I would not have had a baby and made four films. Obviously I'm so not crazy. I'll direct him one day and he'll see how not crazy I am."

Xavier Dolan, "Laurence Anyways"
"You know, most of the time -- to be honest -- when I go to the movies I need a break."

Lena Dunham, "Girls"
"I try not to read too much blogroll. I'm on Twitter all the time, and I'm very aware of what people are saying about me on there, so when Criterion announced the DVD [of 'Tiny Furniture'], a small but ardent group of people said, 'This will not happen.' People were really pissed. I was like, 'You don't have to buy it! Calm down!'"

Greta Gerwig, "Lola Versus"
"Me and Parker Posey. Alliteration -- that's what's up. But Marilyn Monroe, alliteration, not indie film queen."

Anthony Hopkins, "Hitchcock"
"I was so paranoid about the movie after it was finished, I thought, 'Oh, I’d better go live in the Antarctic.' I wasn’t sure what happened."

Helen Hunt, "The Sessions"
"It's getting too late in my life to care about the small things. It's getting too late to not be brave, to not live my life fully, to not try to be an artist. Trivial things like how nice your hotel room is, or if you have to be naked for a while, they fade away."

Allison Janney, "Liberal Arts"
"I lose parts that go to Barbra Streisand, James Gandolfini, Bette Midler. It's just hysterical who I lose parts to!"
