SF Chronicle: "Brokeback" is Top Film Pick of S.F. Critics

"Brokeback Mountain" took three top honors at the San Francisco Film Critics Circle awards. The drama about a 20-year clandestine love affair between Wyoming cowboys won as best picture. Ang Lee was named best director and Heath Ledger best actor for his performance as a ranch hand torn between his intense feelings for a man and the mores of the times. Reese Witherspoon was named best actress for her portrayal of June Carter in the Johnny Cash biopic "Walk the Line." Ruthe Stein reports.
