The Academy Foundation of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has awarded the San Francisco International Film Festival a $150,000 grant as the event approaches its 50th anniversary next Spring. The fest will receive $50,000 in 2007 and an equal amount in two subsequent years. AMPAS has already awarded similar grants to the Telluride Film Festival and the Los Angeles Film Festival. In a statement, Festival Grants Committee Chair Gale Anne Hurd said, in a statement, "That kind of security will permit a festival to take some chances with programs they might otherwise not be willing to try."
