Rome's Cinecitta Studios has extended its 25%-off coupon to foreign producers through 2013.

The deal is this: Get an Italian executive producer, have the project pass the necessary cultural tests and shoot at Cinecitta. You'll receive a 25% deduction (up to $7 million) in tax credits.

Like any production incentive, there's plenty of red tape you'll have to hack through first. And the Italian executive producer -- one that you trust -- is key: The tax credits must be paid through him or her.

Italy initially offered this incentive in 2009; it's now been extended to 2013. The country also offer a 20% exemption on VAT (value-added tax).

For more information, you can contact Cristina Giubbetti in Rome at cristina.giubbetti@cinecittastudios.it or Matt Birch at Montana Artists Agency in Los Angeles at mbirch@montanartists.com.
