The Sundance musical "Sing Street" is the latest film from "Once" and "Begin Again" writer-director John Carney, and features some fictionalized accounts of his own life as a teenager in Ireland.

The movie takes place in 1980's Dublin and is told through the experiences of Conor, who wants to get away from a poor family dynamic exacerbated by money troubles. While adjusting to a rough inner-city school, Conor meets the beautiful and mysterious Raphina, and tries to win her over by inviting her to star in his band's music videos, despite not yet being part of a band. When she agrees, he is quickly able to form a band and he finds solace and inspiration by pouring his heart into writing lyrics and shooting videos.

"Sing Street" hits theaters in limited release on April 15. Watch the clip above. Below, you can watch stars Ferdia Walsh Peelo and Mark McKenna during a live performance at this year's Sundance Film Festival.
