Sony Pictures Classics has nabbed Ray Lawrence's "jindabyne," the hit Australian film starring Laura Linney and Gabriel Byrne that is screening this week at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Fresh from this year's Cannes Film Festival, the movie is set to have its North American premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival. Based on the Raymond Carver short story So Much Water So Close to Home (and written by Beatrix Christian), the film was produced by April Films with Film Finance Corporation Australia and Babcock & Brown, in association with Redchair Films.
