Image Entertainment announced today that it will distribute Spike Lee's divisive coming-of-age film "Red Hook Summer," on DVD/Blu-ray, VOD, digital and broadcast. Variance Films is releasing the film theatrically August 10.
“We’re excited about the opportunity to work with Spike Lee and his team,” stated Bill Bromiley, Chief Acquisitions Officer for Image Entertainment. “He’s the quintessential independent filmmaker and we look forward to collaborating with him on distributing the film through the various platforms available to us.”
Of note: In April, Black Entertainment Television founder Robert L. Johnson agreed to buy Image as well as British TV distributor Acorn Media Group and integrate the companies as part of the RLJ brand.
