The Denver Film Society's Stanley Film Festival has released its full lineup of films. As previously announced Alexandre O. Philippe's star-studded "Doc of the Dead" will open the festival, which takes place over the course of four days at the historic, and, of course haunted, Stanley Hotel, showcasing the best of horror cinema, past and present. Jemaine Clement's vampire mockumentary, "What We Do in the Shadows," will close out the festival, while Elijah Wood's "Open Windows" will screen as a special presentation.
Executive produced by SpectreVision -- a horror production house founded by Wood, Josh Waller and Daniel Noah back in 2010 -- "Open Windows," premiered at SXSW last month and earlier this week, Cinedigm announced that it had acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the film.
As part of the "Open Windows" special presentation, Wood and his SpectreVision co-founders will be honored by SFF with a Visionary Award "for their contribution to independent film," per the press release.
"SpectreVision has broken onto the scene in a fantastic fashion and is leading the industry by producing films that feed the horror audience the type of genre fare they crave," said Denver Film Society Festival Director Britta Erickson. "We are thrilled to honor them with our second annual Visionary Award."
Wood, Waller and Noah will also participate in a panel to discuss SpectreVision's creative vision and its other projects -- namely, "Cooties" and "A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night," which premiered at Sundance earlier this year. SpectreVision will also co-present a retrospective screening of the 1976 Spanish horror, "Who Can Kill a Child."
SFF will take place from April 24-27. For the full list of films, see below:
