After releasing a first-look trailer for their upcoming pirate prequel series "Black Sails" a few weeks back, Starz has returned a new poster for the Michael Bay-produced series, in addition to announcing an official air date of January 2014 for the eight-episode first season.
Taking place 20 years before the classic adventure novel "Treasure Island," the series will follow Toby Stephen ("Die Another Day") as Captain Flint, who with his crew takes on a new addition -- a newcomer going by the name John Silver (Luke Arnold). Together, they fight for the survival of the most notorious criminal paradise of the time, New Providence Island, along the way partaking in sword fights, ship battles, and everything else you might expect from the combination of Michael Bay and pirates.
"Jericho" and "Human Target" creator Jon Steinberg will act as showrunner, while also executive producing alongside Robert Levine ("Touch"). "Black Sails," is currently filming in Cape Town, South Africa. Check out the show's artwork below.
