What are some of the greatest financial perks of filming in your state? Mississippi has great to reasonable rates on housing, utilities, gasoline, office equipment rentals, locations, etc. And we find additional ways for productions to save money once they have chosen their locations, and we are able to directly work with a specific community.

What tax credits are available for productions in your state? Mississippi offers a cash rebate, with no tax application or third party audit. The minimum spend is $50,000.

The rebates:
25% cash back on Mississippi spend
25% cash back on non-resident payroll, above and below the line
30% cash back on resident payroll, above and below the line

We have a $20 million annual cap, an $8 million per project rebate cap*, and a $1 million salary cap*.

*(We have legislation pending that would increase the per project cap to $10 million, increase the salary cap to $5 million, and add a 5% bonus rebate to the payroll of a Veteran of the US Armed Forces.)

What are some of the locations in your state that filmmakers should know about? Everywhere, including: Canton, Clarksdale, Greenville, Greenwood, Natchez, Oxford, Tupelo, Mississippi Gulf Coast-Bay, St. Louis, Biloxi, Gulfport, Long Beach, Ocean Springs, Pass Christian

Are there studios and soundstages that the state hosts that filmmakers should know about? We have the Mississippi Studios at Canton, with a 36,000 square foot soundstage and production offices.

What can you tell us about talented labor in your state? Do you have robust union representation? We have qualified union and non-union labor pools. The deepest concetration of crew is in the Jackson area, with growing bases in the northeast (Oxford, Tupelo) and the Gulf Coast. Our Teamsters are experenced and knowledgeable. We share the Louisiana IATSE Local in the southern half of the state and the Tennessee IATSE Local in the northern half.

Are there deals that you have with equipment, craft service or other suppliers to make these services more affordable? Each production is handled specifically, but, yes, we have production companies and support service providers who work with all productions.

What are some of the recent productions that produced films in your state? "The Help," "Blunt Force," "As I Lay Dying," "Rise Again," "Haunted," "Rites of Spring," "The Dynamiter"

What cities have their own film commissions in your state?  Canton, Tupelo
