Jim Strouse's "The Winning Season," described as the story of "an adult misfit (Sam Rockwell) brought on to coach his local girl's high school basketball team," has been added to the lineup for the upcoming Sundance Film Festival (January 15 - 25, 2009). Others in the cast include Emma Roberts, Rob Corddry, Shareeka Epps and Emily Rios.
"We are thrilled to welcome back to the Festival Jim Strouse who once again displays his talent for storytelling in this superbly witty film," said festival director Geoffrey Gilmore, in a statement. "'The Winning Season' is a completely gratifying cinematic drama marked by sharp dialogue and perfectly toned performances." The film was produced by Celine Rattray, Galt Niederhoffer, and Daniela Taplin from Plum Pictures and Gia Walsh and Kara Baker from Gigi Productions.
