Situated at Sunset and Crescent Heights, the Sundance Sunset Cinema space has been rebuilt to include a bistro, a bar, a lounge, an outdoor lobby, reserved stadium seating and digital projection, with the programming focus, of course, on the best of independent film from around the world.
To kick off the grand opening, Sundance will hold events August 27, 28 and 29 to benefit the Sundance Institute, Outfest and Heal the Bay, this last including a screening of Jamie Redford's documentary “Watershed: Exploring a New Water Ethic for the New West.”
"I discovered my love of movies at a little single screen theatre on the west side of Los Angeles as a boy,” said Sundance Group president Robert Redford. “Having this 'hometown' theatre dedicated to exhibiting the work of independent filmmakers is a considerable goal achieved, and having the Sundance Institute as a neighbor and collaborator on special programs will be a tremendous asset to our patrons.”
The latest addition to the Sundance Cinemas chain joins theaters in San Francisco; Seattle; Houston; Madison, WI; and Westchester, NY.
