Lars von Trier's highly anticipated "Nymphomaniac" has completed shooting, releasing the first official still from the film (photographed by Christian Geisnæs) in celebration:
"My only sin, I believe, is that I always demanded more of the sunset," is the tagline in the press release offering the image, which portrays von Trier regular Charlotte Gainsbourg lying in an alleyway.
Gainsbourg stars as the lead in the film -- which follows her sexual life from birth to the age of 50 -- alongside Stellan Skarsgård (himself a von Trier regular). The supporting cast includes Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, Christian Slater, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen and Udo Kier.
The image is tamed compared to what the rest of the film surely consists of, given it has been confirmed to feature explicit sex. We'll have to wait until later this year to see the rest. Cannes seems like a reasonable place for the film to premiere, though von Trier's controversial appearance there for his last film "Melancholia" doesn't exactly make it a sure thing.
