Programming across network and cable television is being dominated by celebrities this week. For those of you culture snobs, nowhere is safe. So why not indulge in some forbidden fruit?

Sure, Sunday tends to be overcrowded with high-end TV like "Game of Thrones," "House of Lies," "Shameless" and "Mad Men," but what do the other nights have to offer? Every Monday, we bring you five noteworthy highlights from the other six days of your upcoming week.

"The Following" - Season 2 Finale

Monday, April 28th at 9pm on Fox

Tensions are high following last week's roller coaster episode -- which featured the death of Valorie Curry's character, Emma Hill. Death, however, still looms on the horizon in the season two finale. Longtime adversaries Ryan Hardy and Joe Carroll must join forces to save the woman they both love.

"Playing House" - Series Premiere

Tuesday, April 29th at 10pm on USA

Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair, co-creators and co-stars on NBC's short-lived comedy series "BFF," reunite on this 30-minute cable comedy, which also centers on two longtime friends. Maggie Caruso, played by Parham, is newly pregnant and has just kicked her husband out for having an online affair with another woman. Enter, St. Claire in the role of best friend Emma Crawford: a successful businesswoman who gives up work to move in with Caruso to help her best friend pick up the pieces of her life and raise the child. Co-created by Parham and St. Clair, the premise of this quirky comedy has the potential to upend many stereotypes about women, including but not limited to the role of a single mother and the conditions under which a woman decides to give up her job.

"Portlandia" - Season 4 Finale

Thursday, May 1st at 10pm on IFC

Toni, Candace, Kath and Dave take a break from Portland and head to Oregon. If we want to get specific, they are headed to the town of New Beaverton. Jason Sudeikis will guest star, but will not be reprising the role he played in the pilot -- a decision that speaks directly to the show's sketch comedy approach.

"iHeartRadio Music Awards" (Live Special Presentation)

Thursday, May 1st at 8pm EST / 5pm PST on NBC

If you need justification for watching the 1st Annual iHeartRadio Music Awards, tell yourself it's your mainstream fix for the week. According to an article published on the iHeartRadio Music Awards website, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Steven Tyler, Imagine Dragons and Lorde make up merely a small fraction of the artists slated to make appearances throughout the evening. iHeartRadio began as a smartphone application that allows you to live stream over 1500 live radio stations from across the country, as well as build your own custom radio stations. In 2012, iHeartRadio expanded into the music festival business with the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. Given its roots in the digital space and its reputation of knowing how to put on a good show, the iHeartRadio Music Awards might just give CBS' People's Choice Awards a run for their money.

"The Improv: 50 Years Behind the Brick Wall" (Special Presentation)

Friday, May 2nd at 12am on Comedy Central

If you find yourself sitting in front of the television this Friday night, consider indulging in a comedy nightcap. This hour-long documentary specially produced by Epix and narrated by Adam Sandler, features interviews with some of the biggest names in comedy, including Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld, Ray Romano, Judd Apatow and Kathy Griffin. Although each of these comedians have carved out unique spaces for themselves within comedy, they all share the same humble beginnings: doing stand-up onstage at Budd Friedman's legendary comedy club, The Improv. "The Improv: 50 Years Behind the Brick" wall is more than just laughs -- it's an opportunity to look deep into the soul of comedy, which is not something you can do every day.

This article is related to: The Following, Portlandia, Playing House, USA Network, FOX Broadcasting, IFC, NBC, Comedy Central, Adam Sandler
