Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Sure, Sunday tends to be overcrowded with high-end TV like "Girls," "House of Lies," "Shameless" and "The Walking Dead," but what to watch the rest of the time? Every Monday, we bring you five noteworthy highlights from the other six days of the week. This week, we've found five shows to watch instead of the NCAA Tournament (Go Iowa!).

"Paycheck to Paycheck: The Life and Times of Katrina Gilbert"
Monday, March 17 at 9 pm on HBO

Part of Maria Shriver's multi-platform project, "The Shriver Report: A Woman's Nation Pushes Back from the Brink," this HBO documentary tells the story of Katrina Gilbert, a Tennessee mother of three who's working to further her education while working a full time job. The year-long chronicle is supposed to "illuminate the challenges faced by more than 42 million American women and the 28 million children who depend on them" and will be free to watch via HBO.com, ShriverReport.org, and YouTube from march 17-24.

"Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe"
Tuesday, March 18 at 8 pm on ABC

In what appears to be one more promotion push for "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," ABC will air an hour-long documentary on the history of Marvel Studios, the films themselves, and a "further expansion of the universe by Marvel Television." Movie stars, celebrity fans and filmmakers will all be on hand to discuss the wonder that is Marvel -- and probably make fun of DC Comics for being so far behind.

Geraldine Ferraro
Showtime

"Geraldine Ferraro: Paving the Way"
Friday, March 21 at 9 pm on Showtime

The first female vice presidential candidate gets her own documentary made by her daughter, Donna Zaccaro. The film focuses on Ferraro's impoverished childhood, professional challenges, and history-making 1984 vice presidential campaign. Featuring interviews with Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and Ferraro herself, the feature-length documentary should, at the very least, serve as a nice reminder we need more women in politics.

"John Leguizamo's Ghetto Klown"
Saturday, March 22 at 10 pm on HBO

Whether your favorite John Leguizamo film is "Moulin Rouge!" (the correct choice), "Ice Age" (a close second), or "Super Mario Bros." (what are you doing with your life?), everyone has at least one soft spot for the fast-talking Colombian with a sweet slur. Now the voice of Sid the Sloth is taking his talents to the stage in a one-man show titled "Ghetto Klown." Originally aired in November, this marks the fifth show for Leguizamo and his first in 11 years.
