Sure, Sunday tends to be overcrowded with high-end TV, including "Breaking Bad," "The Newsroom," "Low Winter Sun," "Dexter," "Ray Donovan" and more, but what to watch the rest of the time? Every Monday, we bring you five noteworthy highlights from the other six days of the week.

"The Story of Film: An Odyssey"
Monday, September 2 at 10pm on TCM

Mark Cousins' 15-episode documentary series about the history of film comes to the U.S. via Turner Classic Movies, where it'll air weekly on Monday nights through December. The series originally premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2011 and aired on the UK's More4, and has earned intense critical praise. Sam Adams at Criticwire will provide a guide to the series each week.

"On Death Row": Season Premiere
Tuesday, September 3 at 9pm on Investigation Discovery

True-crime network "Investigation Discovery" continues to seem like an odd fit for Werner Herzog, but the network has produced a second series of the filmmaker's "On Death Row" interview series with inmates awaiting execution, a TV project born out of Herzog's documentary "Into the Abyss." Robert Fratta, who was convicted of the murder of his wife, Farah, is the subject of the first episode.

"Luther": Season Premiere
Tuesday, September 3 at 10pm on BBC America

Idris Elba returns as the titular brooding detective in the UK series "Luther," back to obsess over murderers and kidnappers and to get in almost as much trouble in his attempts to bring them to justice. BBC America is broadcasting the four episodes that make up the third and final season over subsequent nights this week -- check out our review here.

"Futurama": Series Finale
Wednesday, September 4 at 10pm on Comedy Central

Matt Groening's sci-fi animated series comes to an end after seven seasons on the air, not always steadily. The hilarious, uneven and sometimes startlingly touching show will close out with "Meanwhile," in which Fry plans to propose to Leela and Professor Farnsworth invents a device that lets people travel 10 seconds into the past.

"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia": Series Premiere
Wednesday, September 4 at 10pm on FXX

FX launches its comedy-centric spin-off network with the premiere of its long-running sociopathic sitcom "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." "Sunny" has been moved over to FXX along with "The League," premiering at 10:30pm, and the now-nightly "Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell" at 11pm.

Also worth a look: Matt LeBlanc joins fellow "Friend" Lisa Kudrow as a guest on the latter's Showtime series "Web Therapy" on Tuesday, September 3rd at 10pm; the third season finale of "Wilfred" airs on FX on Thursday, September 5th at 10pm.
