The '80s are alive and well in Texas. Well, the Texas of AMC's upcoming drama starring Lee Pace, Mackenzie Davis, and Scoot McNairy, "Halt and Catch Fire." The cable network behind such critical and fan favorites like "Breaking Bad," "Mad Men," and "The Walking Dead" released the first poster for its next potential darling today, and the wild colors, early printer style font, and abbreviated "Ctrl" reminiscent of a keyboard all speak to the show's key marketing goal: making the '80s PC battle sexy.
Set during IBM's dominance of the personal computer field, "Halt and Catch Fire" follows an engineer and young tech prodigy who are conned into developing a new PC to rival the market monopoly held by IBM. We liked what we saw at SXSW when they screened the first episode, and AMC obviously has a good deal of faith in the show, indicated by its premiere date on June 1st -- it will take over "Mad Men's" time slot on Sunday nights. Check out the first poster below, and keep checking Indiewire for more updates on the anticipated show.
