Co-created by John Fawcett ("Spartacus") and Graeme Manson ("Flashpoint"), "Orphan Black" will focus on the a "street-wise chameleon" named Sarah who witnesses the suicide of a stranger who looks a lot like her, and decides to assume the woman's identity with aims at clearing out her bank account. Instead, she quickly learns that she and the dead woman are clones, that they're not the only ones out there and that a mysterious assassin is targeting them all.
The ten-episode hour-long season will shoot in Toronto this fall and air in Canada on the genre-centric Space channel.
BBC America's done well with sci-fi and supernatural series, as the home of the original "Being Human," "Torchwood" and "Primeval." "Copper," the network's first original series all its own (not licensed or a co-production) debuts on Sunday, August 19 at 9pm -- the show is a period-drama set in 1860s New York City.
