All that Twitter campaigning to write the film adaptation of "50 Shades of Grey" may not have paid off for Bret Easton Ellis, but the "American Psycho" author may get another chance to work on somethine vaguely "Twilight"y. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ellis has been brought on by the CW to write a script for hourlong supernatural drama "Copeland Prep."

"Copeland Prep" is set in a competitive, high end prep school whose attendees are literally turning into monsters in ways that are no doubt filled with metaphorical implications. "Gossip Girl" creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will executive produce alongside Ellis, while "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke will serve as an executive consultant. In a strange way, this seems like an idea fit for Ellis, who's always seemed most comfortable with dark tales, tinged with the surreal, of former prep school kids.

Ellis, who's been using his Twitter account in all sorts of attention-grabbing ways lately, wrote the screenplay to Paul Schrader's currently in production "The Canyons," starring Lindsay Lohan, porn actor James Deen and filmmaker Gus Van Sant. The writer recently tweeted that he "Just got inside information that James Deen is actually in the running to play Christian in 'Fifty Shades of Grey' with E.L. James support."
