"House of Cards" has been stirring up debate for Netflix ever since it launched last Friday, and the streaming service is preparing to next premiere Eli Roth's supernatural thriller "Hemlock Grove" on April 19th, Ricky Gervais' UK co-production "Derek" and the resurrected "Arrested Development" set to follow.

Netflix also has women in prison dramedy "Orange Is the New Black," from "Weeds" creator Jenji Kohan, in the works, and after that? Deadline reports that the company is in talks with Gaumont International Television, the studio behind "Hemlock Grove," for a drama from Brazilian-born "Elite Squad" and "RoboCop" remake director José Padilha. "Narcos" will look at the life and death of Columbian drug lord Pablo Escobar, the philanthropist, congressman, father of two, cocaine trafficker and notoriously violent head of the Medellín Cartel.

The series was conceived of by Padilha, who would direct and oversee the 13-episode first season, with Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard writing and "Children of Men" producer Eric Newman slated to executive produce for a potential 2014 premiere. Like all of the series Netflix has been associated post-"Lilyhammer," "Narcos" sounds like a very auteur-driven project.

Gaumont's international television arm is also producing NBC's "Silence of the Lambs" series "Hannibal" and that "Barbarella" TV series to which Nicolas Winding Refn is attached, one that's yet to have landed at a network.
