There are few media endorsements more powerful than that of Oprah Winfrey, and she's giving that stamp of approval to critical darling "Beasts of the Southern Wild." In an upcoming episode of "Super Soul Sunday," Winfrey sits down with the filmmaker Benh Zeitlin and castmembers Dwight Henry and Quvenzhané Wallis for an interview in which she explores her love and admiration of the film.
The well-documented "Oprah Effect" has been a huge boon to books and products that have been mentioned on Winfrey's talk show in the past. While "Beasts of the Southern Wild" has already garned over $8 million at the box office, this is potentially major exposure to new audiences for a debut film with a cast primarily made up of first-time actors. Also, it's adorable to watch Zeitlin struggle to receive Winfrey's enthusiastic praise in the exclusive clip below: "Benh, I actually love you so much for this."
Super Soul Sunday’s “Why Oprah Loves ‘Beasts of the Southern Wild’” premieres on Sunday, August 26 at 11am on OWN and will stream online worldwide at the same time via Oprah.com and Facebook.com/OWNtv.
