"Girls" creator, star, and regular director and writer Lena Dunham will be hosting "Saturday Night Live" on March 8th, with The National serving as musical guest. The Vogue cover girl and social media mavin has drawn both praise and criticism, in equally copious measure, but few can deny curiosity for what kind of host she will make. Her comedic skills on the series earned her an Emmy award and she continues to impress through its current third season.
When "SNL" spoofed her character Hannah Horvath and the other self-involved young women of "Girls," with host Tina Fey playing her new Albanian roommate Blerta, Dunham claimed to be honored and greatly amused. Fellow female show-runner Mindy Kaling (of "The Mindy Project") even tweeted a photo of Dunham watching and seemingly enjoying the skit in her living room.
For fans and haters alike, Dunham's hosting will be a must-see, if only to know what outrageous new "Girls" character they will concoct for Dunham (and if she'll bring her knack for nude scenes with her). She will also be sure to wittily address her critics, as she is prone to do both on and off the show.
