Mikkelsen's already gotten to play his share of charismatic villains -- he was Bond adversary Le Chiffre in "Casino Royale" and expert (evil) dueler Captain Rochefort in "The Three Musketeers," and is reportedly in talks to take on a villain role in "Thor 2." In less overtly dastardly roles, he also won the best actor prize at Cannes last month for his role in Thomas Vinterberg's "The Hunt."
Mikkelsen joins past screen Lecters Anthony Hopkins (who won an Oscar for the role in "The Silence of the Lambs" and reprised it in "Hannibal" and "Red Dragon"), Brian Cox ("Manhunter") and Gaspard Ulliel ("Hannibal Rising").
Last week it was reported that Lifetime is developing its own "Silence of the Lamb" prequel series, one based on the early career of Clarice Starling.

This guy has the cunningingness of Waltz playing Landa. The sublime sadism of Walken
playing Coccotti. The rakishness of Palance playing Curly.
