In a heartbreaker of a decision back in March, HBO canceled "Enlightened" after two seasons. Despite the critical love and award wins, the Laura Dern/Mike White series never attracted a significant audience -- but that doesn't mean the network's done with White.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, White has a new project in development at the cable channel -- "Mr. Romance," a comedy he'll be producing but won't, from all appearances, be involved in to the degree of "Enlightened," which he wrote, produced, directed and acted in.

"Mr. Romance" is based on Joshuah Bearman's "The Only Muscle I Can't Control: In Search of the Next Romance Novel Cover Man," a 2010 article in McSweeney's about the 14th annual Mr. Romance Cover Model Competition. "Girls" co-executive producer Murray Miller, who just signed a two-year overall deal with HBO, will co-write the script alongside Casper Christensen (one of the co-stars and writers of "Klown"), with Bearman, White and David Bernad executive producing.
