That's right. You, all your friends, and every stand-up comedian alive will soon be taking part in a name-off via Twitter to the joy of us all. Fans can tweet their suggestions to @SyFyMovies using the hashtag #Sharknado and Syfy will select the best (read: most ridiculous) as the subtitle for "Sharknado 2."
While a social media challenge seems like a no-brainer, news of the sequel is somewhat surprising given the low ratings for the original movie. Indiewire noted this last week, and Variety reporter Rick Kissell recently reported a statistic to help put "Sharknado" into perspective.
After some exhaustive research, it's been determined that Syfy movie SHARKNADO was the 976th most popular primetime program on TV last week.— Rick Kissell (@RatesRick) July 16, 2013
Thomas Vitale, Syfy's Executive Vice President of Programming and Original Movies, said they haven't determined if "Sharknado 2" will be a sequel or a prequel. What is known is that the original's production team, The Asylum, will be back for the follow-up. More details to come, but for now head over to Twitter and send in your best pitches for "Sharknado 2: Hannah and Her Sharks."
